Curt Schilling almost no hitter
curt schilling almost threw a no hitter for the Boston red sox yesterday. With two outs in the 9th, he gave up a single, after shaking off catcher Jason Varitek. Who thinks shaking off Varitek was a mistake. Personally, I would trust Schilling to make his own decisions, but then he got hit. Now one unfortuantely wonders what if?
Mass: Today a standing-room only crowd cheered on republian Scott Brown
Republican all around American Scott Brown appears to have captured the American people by storm,it has been reported Scott Brown has run a clean campaign, his opponent has choose to run a smear campaign against him, American's very tired of the old down and dirty politics out of Washington D.C.both pass and present seems to be turning a deft ear to the democrat candidate. Stories about registrar democrat voters in the state of Mass who are crossing party lines to cast their vote for republican Scott Brown believing this is the best for our country and the right thing to do~~ Well you be watching this election closely Tuesday night?(WorldNetDaily) WORCESTER, Mass. – A standing-room only, overflow crowd jammed into Mechanic's Hall today for a campaign rally in support of Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown's bid to win the seat left open by the death of the late Sen. Clemens needs to clear his name or give back his Cy Young awards
> BOSTON - Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling called on Roger Clemens to give up the four Cy Young Awards he's won since 1997 if he can't clear his name from allegations that he used steroids to prolong and enhance his career. ADVERTISEMENT"If he doesn't do that then there aren't many options as a fan for me other than to believe his career 192 wins and three Cy Youngs he won prior to 1997 were the end," Schilling wrote Wednesday in his blog, 38pitches.com. "From that point on the numbers were attained through using (performance-enhancing drugs). Just like I stated about Jose (Canseco), if that is the case with Roger, the four Cy Youngs should go to the rightful winners, and the numbers should go away if he cannot refute the accusations."..............."Can you separate what Barry is accused of from what Roger is accused of?" Schilling said. "If ... both of these men end up being caught, what does that say about this game, us as athletes and the future of the sport and our place in it? The greatest pitcher and greatest hitter of all time are currently both being implicated, one is being prosecuted, for events surrounding and involving the use of performance enhancing...
Game 2 Reactions
Well, as I suspected, tonight's game was a lot better and a lot closer. Boston won 2-1 with strong pitching again from Curt Schilling and a very strong bullpen. The Rockies pitching kept Boston's heavy hitters in check, but the Rockies must have left their bats in Denver. Matt Holliday showed up going 4-4 with 4 singles, but only Brad Hawpe could manage to get a hit. Well, Boston now leads the series 2-0. What do you think now as the series shifts to Colorado?
Rockies vs. Red Sox
This series could be the best series in baseball history. The Colorado Rockies, winners of 21 of their last 22 games, against the Boston Red Sox, with the best pitcher and most powerful line-up in the game. Many will concider this to be an easy win for the Red Sox. Hold the phone though, the Rockies took a 3 game series from the Red Sox earlier this year, at Fenway Park. And the Rockies just didn't face anyone in Boston's strong rotation. They faced the knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, the new Mr. October Josh Beckett, and the postseason master, Curt Schilling. The Rockies, a team with virtually a bunch of nobody's, have truly defined the word "team" by coming up with clutch hitting and precision pitching. The Rockies also swept through the playoffs knocking off the heavily favored Philidelphia Phillies in the Divisional round and then took care of the best team in the National League, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rockies are on a roll like no one has ever seen before. Can they sweep the series? I don't think so. I can see them losing Game 1 because of the 8 day lay off. However, the Red Sox have been down this road before. In 2004, they swept the Angels then went down 3-0 to the...
NY Yankees 8, Cleveland 6
NEW YORK (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez kind of chuckled, and declared the best thing about his game-winning homer Thursday was trying to hit Yankees coach Larry Bowa in the head as he rounded third. Yes, Rodriguez is one happy superstar right now, and the Yankees are winning because of it. Rodriguez hit a three-run homer that capped a comeback from a four-run deficit with two outs in the ninth inning, giving the New York Yankees an 8-6 victory over the Cleveland Indians that completed a three-game sweep. By homering for the third straight game, Rodriguez increased his major league-leading totals to 10 homers and 26 RBIs. His latest drive came after he went hitless in his first four at-bats and committed a throwing error that allowed the Indians' final run to score. "It's just fun," Rodriguez said. "It's going out and not trying to do too much, and help the team win." A-Rod connected on a belt-high pitch from Joe Borowski (0-1) and sent the ball soaring to center. Rodriguez knew immediately it was gone, flipping his bat toward the Yankees' dugout and raising both hands in triumph. He slapped the hands of Bowa after rounding third, then slammed his helmet to the...
Daisuke Matsuzaka Madness
Possible 2007 Boston Red Sox rotation:Daisuke Matsuzaka Curt Schilling Josh Beckett Jonathan Papelbon Tim WakefieldI'd say that the Boston rotation will look pretty intimidating to a lot of teams next year, especially the Yankees. With the free agents the Red Sox are locking up, it may be time for New York to start fidgeting in their seats. While the Yankees are considering a platoon role at first base inloving Andy Phillips or Josh Phelps, the Red Sox have signed Matsuzaka (which may bring more publicity to a team not named the New York Yankees for the first time in a decade), Julio Lugo, and J.D. Drew. Oh wait, the Yankees also signed Andy Pettitte and his ERA was only slightly above four.Yes, the American League East could be receiving a changing-of-the-guard in 2007, but most people are not considering the Toronto Blue Jays. They have a high-powered offense which was bolstered by the signing of Frank Thomas. They also have three top-line starters that just need to remain healthy...all year. Or else. Roy Halladay, A.J. Burnett, and Gustavo Chacin have each had their fair share of injury troubles in the years and if the status quo is met, then the Blue Jays could...
Red Sox dine with D-Mat
BOSTON (AP) -- Daisuke Matsuzaka dined with his would-be Boston bosses and took in a Los Angeles Lakers game during a trip to the United States, then headed back to Japan and left his agent to work out a deal with the Red Sox. "We had some initial discussions yesterday," agent Scott Boras said Tuesday in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "We're continuing to talk. We've started the process." Boston bid $51.1 million for the right to negotiate with Matsuzaka, who was the MVP of last spring's World Baseball Classic. General manager Theo Epstein has until the end of Dec. 14 to sign him. Red Sox owner Tom Werner confirmed that the sides got together on Saturday night for dinner at his Los Angeles-area home in Pacific Palisades. "We had kind of an owners and executives meeting Saturday to kind of introduce D-Mat to everyone and everyone to us," Boras said. "It was an evening where I think both sides learned a lot about one another. A good cultural exchange." Boras said Matsuzaka returned to Japan on Monday. Under Epstein, the Red Sox have not hesitated to make college-style recruiting trips to land talent. In 2003, after losing a heartbreaking...
